Making Decisions

William McKinley, The 25th U.S. President, once had to choose between two qualified men for a a key job. He puzzled over the choice until he remembered a long-ago incident.

On a rainy night, McKinley had boarded a crowed streetcar. One of the men he was now considering had been aboard, though he didn't see McKinley. Then an old woman carrying a basket of laundry struggled into the car, looking in vain for a seat. the job candidate pretended not to see her and kept his seat. McKinley gave up his seat to help her.

Remembering the episode, which he called "this little omission of kindness," McKinley decided against the man on the streetcar. Our decisions- even the small, fleeting ones - tell a lot about us.

Flags should be illuminated

The U.S. flags at all Reading schools that fly at night should be illuminated.

If the school district uses only one light then it should be a big spotlight. This is in my opinion.

I Sleep very well at night

Thank you for your'e comment. Why don't you tell us all who you are? I will always stand by my votes and have a clear conscious.

Swap Deal in Reading

Martin Braun's article that was in the Bloomberg News was also run in the Baltimore Sun's newspaper. It was also run in the Allentown Morning Call on January 18th,2007.

I still continue to take heat for shining the light on things that are happening behind the scenes. This wouldn't have to happen if government was more transparent.

Its a sad day

When a school board has to vote on having food at their meetings. But they're not worried if they gave the store away with a Bond Swap! Only in Reading PA

Sometimes food bills last year ran 300 plus dollars a month for meetings.

Keith Stamms advice for today

"Don't seek peace and tranquility from outside sources;they are hidden inside your own heart."

Who had what to gain?

Documents Taken by Federal Investigators

As reported in the Bloomberg News in November: Federal investigators took documents yesterday from Investment Advisory Group Inc.,a broker of guaranteed investment contracts and a municipal derivatives advisor based in Pottstown,Pennsylvania, said Gene Grabowski,a spokesman for the firm known as IMAGE.

IMAGE received a subpoena from the antitrust division of the U.S. Department of Justice and the company is cooperating fully with the authorities.

This is the same company that was involved with our Bond Swap last April of 2006.

I was concerned about this Bond Swap and voted no to the deal.

United States Flag at Reading Senior High School

The flag currently only has one light illuminating it . This flag should have at least three lights shining on it,or one huge spotlight.

I am confident that our maintenance crew can fix this for the second time. If they can't I know several electricians who could. Thank you in advance for your'e efforts.

Bond Scam

Bond scam yields profits at the expense of the needy

William Selway,Martin Z. Braun and David Dietz of Bloomberg News exposed a phantom bond scam-over $7 billion in the past 10 years- which promise benefits for the needy(better housing, improvements to inner-city schools, etc.) yet the only ones profitting are banks, insurance companies and financiers. "The arrangements-often called black box deals, because they're complicated and mysterious-sometimes contain secret agreements and promise to pay the financial middlemen higher fees if none of the money from the bond offerings is used to help the public. The agencies that issue the bonds buy them back from investors. The money goes untapped, and the advisers keep their fees."

Time Spent on the United States Flag

I spent the amount of time on the flags because any true Leader would do the same. I am a patriotic american and feel it is a disgrace not to fly the flag correctly.

Request for Additional Monies

Keith Stamm proposed additional cameras thru - out the Reading School District. I asked all of our political representatives for help.

The beauty of the new camera system is that the Reading Police could tune in to the wireless frequency. This would allow everyone to help with security issues.

Stamm to Measure Flag

I will measure the flag hanging at RHS on Saturday January 6th,2007. The flag didn't look like the 5x8 flag that was presented to Dr. Chapman at the last special board meeting.

I will also review the video tape of the last Special Board meeting. This should verify that Dr. Chapman received the 5x8 United States Flag.

Remember,President Ronald Reagans quote Trust but Verify!

Nelson Diaz to Debate Mayor Tom McMahon

Senior Nelson Diaz will debate Mayor McMahon. I want everyone who can watch this debate to do so.This debate will show countless people the qualities of many of our students.

I am very proud of Nelson for having this interest in politics. Maybe, it was his history and government teacher talking about The Kennedys all the time.(Mr.Russ Diessinger)

Nelson will be on BCTV on January 4th,2007 at 7 pm. Good Luck Nelson

New American Flag to Eventually Fly

Board President Keith Stamm requested that the 5x8 flag be given to Wynton Butler(Reading School District principal.)

Dr. Chapman gave it to Barry Suski on Tuesday January 2nd,2007.Currently nobody seems to know where this flag is. The lights lighting the current flag are not working properly. This has been reported to the Facilities Director (Barry Suski).

I am very hopeful that by friday this new flag will fly in front of Reading Senior High School. This new flag flew over our Capitol and was sent to us by Congressman Jim Gerlach.

Reading School District Staff

Please,Please,Please, will you all fly the United States flag correctly. We lost a former President of the United States of America. The current President George Bush ordered all Flags to be flown at half staff for thirty days.
