My parents told me over 17/yrs ago that I was making a mistake moving to the city. I told several people that if the administrations direction isn't changed it will only get worse.
I would probably move to suburbia if I could afford to do so.

I know a whole lot of people who would be happy to help you move.....
Based on the fact that you've been a successful real estate agent for a long time, I find it hard to conceive that you don't have:
(1) The cash to move
(2) An inside track to buying affordable housing outside the city
Unless you intend to run for Mayor, again, why stay?
