The Pa. State Committee would not save me postage with my political mailing. The reason was given because I had a Canadian Flag along side of The American Flag on my lapel.
This was a sad excuse when Canada is one of our biggest allies. Basically I ran my campaign as an independent.

Let me try to understand this.....first your were a Democrat, then a Republican and now an Independent????? What will you be next week????
A couple things which crossed my mind:
1.) The PAGOP most likely realized you were not going to win the mayoral election, and wished to focus on more pertinent races (like the Superior and Supreme court justices' election), which the GOP had a decent shot at winning. So instead of hurting your feelings by telling you that your race was not viable and you faced certain defeat, they used the "flag" issue as an excuse.
AND
2.) Another question is WHY would you have a Canadian flag on your lapel, next to the American flag? Are you from Canada? Most Americans simply wear the American flag on their lapel. Wouldn't having the Union Jack have been a better choice, since Great Britain has been more of an ally especially for the war in Iraq/War on Terror, while Canada has refused to send troops or participate in the war?
