Hi Keith
I understand that the coach got word that some of the parents complained to board members in regards to the coach telling the students that the competetion comes first and academics second, this was said at an away game to the cheerleaders, maybe before she speaks the coach should consider who is over hearing her remarks, anyway she called the 5 girls who left the squad and apologized and begged them to come back. Is this the kind of person you want coaching these cheerleaders.
In listening to some of the girls talking in class, I understand that this coach moved some of the junior varsity girls up to varsity and told them that they would be cheering at the upcoming Daniel Boone game, which I believe was this evening. After telling them this she must of realized what a serious mistake she made with her remarks to the varsity girls. The 5 cheerleaders were called and apologized to and then asked to return to the squad. What about the feelings of the other girls that she moved up and asked to cheer at the game. What did she tell them, sorry don't need you anymore? This person sure does not worry about anyones feelings but keeping herself out of trouble with the board and the higher up. Do we want this type of person working with our students? This is not the first time I overheard stories about her.
A tragedy? What about the incredibly high percentage of kids dropping out before they graduate??? You have some bizzare priorities.. I'm yet to see any ideas, thoughts,a plan perhaps to keep these kids in school... Maybe you can investigate why these cheerleaders quit the squad, have a special board meeting, appoint a study commission. Check thier pom poms for safety, maybe thier uniforms aren't stylish enough?Maybe they don't like the cheers and don't know the School song. Maybe the cheerleading coach was a former Marine who worked them half to death? Maybe the basketball team is so good that the cheerleaders figured, what the hell they don't need us.. Good god man take action, we can't tolerate this one minute longer!!!!
Do any students and/or staff know the "School Song"? Please tell me the last time it was sung at RHS!
Keith
I understand that not all of the 5 cheerleaders that quit the squad returned after they received a phone call from the coach. In fact I understand that more quit. Seems like there is a problem there. As far as your last comment regarding the school song, that was stopped long before you were elected to the school board. Why is this person only asking this question now, seems to me it should of been asked maybe 10 years ago!
