I'm not positive who will pay for those damages after the 1st flood. But I'll tell you who should... Mayor McMahon. I was doing some research of my own on this the other day, and from what I gathered... he owns or is part of the company that is going to develop this riverfront project. So if he's going to be collecting on some of this $1 Billion, he should help pay for the damages that this hair brained scheme is going to cause!
I don't think that upon investigation, The Eagle will find this story newsworthy. The buildings will have flood insurance, paid for by the tenants. The policies will be underwritten by the Federal Government (who is the only flood insurer in the US).
Water-front condos are a huge trend - Trump Tower in Philadelphia is about to open at Penn's Landing. The Ritz-Carlton residences at Baltimore Harbor are about to open.
For once, Reading will be keeping up with the times.
I doubt that a lot of children will live in those condos - the burden on RSD will likely be less than the tax dollars collected to that end.
