Salvatore "Sam" Chirielison

My deepest sympathies To The Chirielison Family. Sam always had a smile and would always help anyone who asked.

School Teachers Must Assess Their Situation

Is a 7% raise worth being injured or killed at Reading High School? I challenge all School Director's to experience students behavior at Reading High School.

Approximately two months ago I was a witness to a High School Student talking with such filth to a security guard. What a shame to leave this behavior continue.(More Feel Good Government) The next cry will be for even more money!

It is not how much money the School District has. It is about the School Districts liberal policies.

Fantasyland

Reading High School student cut in attack in today's Reading Eagle. Why wasn't this an issue "Overcrowding" before.

Hesitant to put police back in the High School when they should never have been taken out. Mrs. McCree what changed since I asked you the question, Does your your daughter feel unsafe in Reading High School? This question was asked almost (4) years ago and Mrs McCree tried to hit me with a water bottle.

The city of Reading and the Reading School District can certainly be sued. Will individual people also be sued ?? (Mayor McMahon and Board President McCree)

Weapon's Searches Needs To Happen

Reading Police need to make random searches of students immediately. This needs to be done because we need to be pro active before something seriously happens.

The Reading School Board needs to discuss and have a roll call vote. When this happens I will post who voted against having police at the Reading High School.

Another Fight At Reading High School

Suggestion: The next time students are caught on security cameras fighting, make them clean up the trash that is thrown all over school property.
If their parents think this is cruel and excessive punishment explain that their behavior needs to change. Evidently you as a parent can't control them so we will help you!

Thank You For The Applause

Mark Gillen Republican Chairmen announced at Senator Thompson's visit that Keith Stamm was in the audience. He told everyone that I deserved a round of applause for staying on The Reading School Board.

It was really appreciated and I will not forget it.

A Great Day In The Neighborhood

How can Reading High School check for weapons with out an armed policeman on duty?

Did you know that Reading High School has Metal Detectors? Does Reading High School use these detectors?

Trash To Steam

Why didn't the Mayor of Reading and City Council look at a Trash to Steam plant?

It would help them with their Budget crisis? I'm tired of hearing that Mayor McMahon is like a Republican.

A Republican Mayor would come up with some ideas other than raising Taxes.

City Budget

City Budget: Did anyone think about salaries going back to their previous level a year ago?

Let,s show some Leadership for a change!

No Bama

Remember,President Jimmy Carter the peanut farmer. When was the last time a poor person hired you for a job?

Spread The Wealth: My hard earned money to go to a person who doesn't even try to work. I really don't think so? Corruption is the key thing to eliminate. I only hear Senator McCain and Governor Palin talking about this issue.

The Liberal Left

Remember,The Liberal Left would tell us that Governor Ronald Reagan wanted to eliminate Social Security. Then the liberals constantly told us President Reagan wanted to eliminate Social Security.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of the Liberal Left!

Teacher Raises (Editor)

Did the Reading Eagle tell everyone that the 10% administrative raise was excessive??

Reading Police Need To Come Back To Schools

Reading Police need to be stationed at Reading High School. What do you do when a student shows a gun or knife? I guess the only thing you can do is run !

Feel Good government thinks we don't need armed police. I'm telling you that these same liberals will have a Thousand excuses if something happens.

The most famous excuse is that we have to many students at the High School. Did anyone ever think to make students who are expelled to scrub the floors?

Heroin Ring Had Reading Center

This proves that my call for (7) Drug Sniffing Dogs during my campaign for Mayor was and is still needed.
When will the people who control Reading ,Pa. wake up???

Image Counts

Senator Obama how do you tell the poor you represent them and wear $1500 suits.
Senator Obama wears Hart Schaffner Marx suits that retail for $1500.

Blog Success

Thank you to the nice people who have made this Blog a success. (85,000 plus hits)

Reading Symphony

School Director Keith Stamm proposed spending $25,500 to help the Reading Symphony create a program helping our youth.

This would be having two private instructors helping our youth in music studies. This would be above and beyond their general music education.

Keith Stamm played Trumpet in The Swing Fever Big Band and Sound Advice Big Band for many years after graduating from Exeter High School.

Senator James Rhoades

My deepest sympathies to the family of Senator James Rhoades. I had the privilege on several occasions to talk with Senator Rhoades.

He was very instrumental in helping Senator O'Pake bring monies to the Reading School District.

The Caum Home

College Heights community meeting: At the last community meeting I asked Mayor McMahon a simple question. Do you support a Drug Rehab being put in the Caum Home?

Mayor McMahon said," he couldn't answer this because it was a legal issue and couldn't comment." Would Mayor Lou Barletta give this same ridiculous answer?

Drug Sniffing Dogs

When will these dogs ever walk in and around our schools? I think people will be surprised to find out that the bad situation with drugs is District Wide and doesn't just involve students.

Thought For The Week

Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian. Not any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Will The Truth Ever Come Out?

Remember, the Truth will set you free! I have been telling this to many people this year. I'm hopeful the real Truth will come out in The Free Press very soon.

Liberal Lunacy

"Fox NEWS exerts an evil,all-powerful influence in the media."
What liberals can't stand is not Fox Newsreach or power, but the fact that the network gives Americans one place to go on their TV dial that doesn't always buy into the liberal bias.

This Charity event brought out the best in both Presidential candidates. I wish they both could act this civil. If all politicians would only forget their party and just focus on an issue this country would improve tremendously.

Was Debate Enough To Win?

Senator McCain looked and acted Presidential in Wed. nights debate. Was it enough to overcome Senator Obamas lead in the polls. Only time will tell.

Citadel School at St. Joesph Site

The new school between 12th and 13th streets is starting to show some recent progress. Steel beams are being erected,4th floor has been built on top of the one wing of the former hospital.

Water Debate and Vote must Happen

The Reading School Board needs to debate and vote on paying for their water.I guess this is another issue like the Reading Police in Reading School District schools.

The debate and vote never happened to take police officers out of the High School.

This debate and vote needs to happen. I never was in favor of removing the Reading Police from the High School.

Open Letter To Reading Eagle

To the Editor:Please pull Mayor Tom McMahon's Campaign report. Does the new owner of the Caum Home have a name of Allen Ertel? Did this man contribute to Mayor McMahons re-election campaign?

Want To Improve Reading?

Read this book When The Rackets Reigned. Change a few names,Stop and think where else in Reading this type of thing could of happened??

Basketball Coach

Will we have a new coach this week? Will my daughter ever get a History teacher?

History teachers are all over Pa.This should not take six months to fill this position.

Bar Stool Economics

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.00. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.00
The sixth would pay $3.00
The seventh would pay $7.00
The eighth would pay $12.00
The ninth would pay $18.00
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.00

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day,the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers,"he said,"I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.00"Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.00.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men- the paying customers? How would they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33.But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing(100%savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12(25%savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18(22%savings).
The tenth now paid$49 instead of $59(16%savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,"but he got $10!"
"Yeah, that's right,"exclaimed the fifth man."I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"
"That's true!"shouted the seventh man."Why should he get $10 back when I got only two?The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute,"yelled the first four men in unison."We didn't get anything at all.The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks,so the nine sat down and had beers without him.But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors,is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction.Tax them to much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Windmills For City Of Reading

Study should be done to see if it is feasible to put windmills on skyline drive. This could power our High School and maybe some other buildings in the City of Reading.

Production of the dime began in 1796. Alexander Hamilton in his report to Congress in 1791 suggested a coin equal to 1/10 of a dollar.

Open Letter to Senator Opake - My Open Plea

Dear Mike,

Please ask to see all our expenses regarding food at all meetings. School Board meetings, Human Resource meetings,Christmas parties,All meetings with top administrators. Please look where all the extra money you brought to the Reading School District is going.

Tax Increases

Tax and Spend liberals that will spend on frivolous things.

Debate was a Shock and Awh (Vice Presidential debate) Go Sarah Please send this debate to all Bloggers.

Congratulations Governor Sarah Palin

I really enjoyed how you talked to the American people. The debate reminded me of former President Reagan when you told Senator Biden: " There you go again Joe."

Very interesting how neither candidate believes in Gay marriage.

Mayor Calls For 22.9% Tax Hike

The feel good mayor of Reading is calling for a 22.9% Tax hike. Maybe we can put a few more Goggle Works up.

I know some people who love taking property off the Tax rolls.

The Imax theater,Goggle Works,Goggle Apartments, and (5) new restaurants in the planning stage.

These projects are going to fix the city according to some people. I do not agree with this assessment.
