Bonds In Bethlehem Area School District

Bethlehem Area School District Administrators staunchly defend Swaps saying it saved taxpayers $6.3 million.
But a report prepared by Stan Majewski Jr. ,the district's business manager, failed to account for millions in costs.(Sunday Morning Call (6-28-09)

Reading School District did a Swap of similar nature when I was Board President.I pleaded with the Reading School Board to obtain another opinion.They all wanted to roll the dice which Mike Setley (Financial advisor for the District told the school board it is A Roll Of The Dice) I voted No because I will not Gamble with Public money!

I will request a detailed analysis from our current Business manager.

I voted No to Reading School District's $212,000,000 budget because:$5,185,000 came from an inter fund transfer (onetime)money.The School Board needs to look at better solutions to save money.

$60,000 Would Pay For Many Things

This is what the Reading School District would have in their savings account if they would have listened to me. This is based on saving $10,000 for the last (6) years by turning the thermostat lower in the winter. If you raise the thermostats in the summer that figure would probably increase by $120,000.

If the Reading School District would have listened to me on the Infamous Bond Swaps they probably would have another $400,000 in their Bank account. Why did the Daniel Boone School District get rid of their Bond Swaps???

Why do Mayors always say that Police and Fire protection will suffer if Taxes aren't raised? Why can't they have common sense and not fund The Pagoda with $1,000,000? Why do certain MAYORS continuously fund The Goggle Works? Did anyone ever look at an alternative to heat The Goggle Works? Why can't we use some of President Obama's stimulus money and place Solar Panels on top of The Goggle Works?

Complaints Received

Today I received several complaints on the appearance of our District Buildings. The buildings & properties in question were Riverside Elementary,Reading High School,Windsor & Ritter,and 13TH & Green. The complaint was that it appears that nobody is maintaining the Grass and Vines that are out of control.

Financial Empowerment Team

When the Reading School District was in Financial Distress a financial empowerment team was created. Community leaders such as Paul Roedel and Marlin Miller were on that empowerment team. My suggestion is that such a team be created for the City of Reading. It certainly wouldn't hurt and could possibly help the city come out of Financial Distress.

The Reading School Board still hasn't received a report from Middle States. Why haven't we seen a copy of this report?

Make Them Squirm

Does anyone care to make the administration squirm? Ask to see phone records for three months from Reading High School. Then request three months of records for all cell phones.
You will see calls to all locations from Trinidad,Puerto Rico,New York,etc. I have several theories why this is happening. Number #1 theory ( There are no controls on any phones period !)

Stamm Made Request On 6/15/09

I requested to see a report that was written by MiddleStates. Dr. Chapman told us he didn't have the report. Why doesn't the Superintendent have the report if Mr. Wynton Butler received the report over 1 week ago?
Why does Dr. Chapman not want to admit he received the report? I will continue to ask for a copy if I need to make a formal request with the OPEN RECORDS LAW!

Sundays Reading Eagle June 7th,2009: This is the first time since Kori Walter left the Eagle that anyone addressed the abuse of The Reading School Board.
When the current Superintendent was hired a little over 4 years ago the Board went for a Lavish dinner at the Abe Lincoln. Mr. Kori Walter met me in the lobby wanting to do a breaking story that Keith Stamm broke his promise that he wouldn't eat food on the taxpayer dime.I stopped that story because I produced a receipt for my meal that I paid for.

On a more recent time The Scholastic Recognition Dinner and the Sports Banquet I will provide a receipt of my check paying for my own food. Will Cinfici is the only other Board member to not eat before School meetings.

Recently,I told Dr. Chapman to make a list of School Directors and analyze why they are on the Reading School Board: Are they there for the right reason??

Attention All School Board Members

If you are related to a lawyer,financial advisor,contractor,etc, please get legal counsel before you vote to conduct school business with them.

This is another common sense issue.
