Tax Amnesty Plan Proposed At June26th,2006 Board Meeting

Keith Stamm presented a plan to bring a possible $3,000,000 to the Reading School District. We would give homeowners the opportunity to pay their back taxes without incurring any past penalties.

The homeowners would be given approximately three months to do this. Business Manager Dennis Kelley thought it was a good idea. Board President, Mr Pierre Cooper instructed Dennis to look at other cities such as Philadelphia that had success with a similar program.

One advantage is it keeps the school district out of court,and saves the district attorney fees!
