Ruleville Police Chief Pleads Guilty To Extortion
And Protecting Drug Distribution

United States Attorney Jim M. Greenlee and FBI Special Agent in Charge, John Raucci,
announced today that Ruleville Police Department Chief of Police, Ronald Robinson,plead guilty in United States Distrit Court in Oxford to Count Three of a federal indictment charging him with extortion under the color of official right. Robinson admitted that while employed as Chief of Police of the Ruleville Police Department, he obtained a cash payoff of $3,000 to which he was not entitled, in exchange for not pursuing drug and gambling related charges against an individual and for providing protection for an individual that he believed to be distributing cocaine.
Robinson faces up to 20 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and up to 3 years supervised release.

The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
