Boondoggle of Taxpayer money/ Goggle Works
This is in response to the comment I received on Mayor Tom. $5,000,000 of taxpayer monies would provide many more police personnel for Reading. It would also bring my Drug Sniffing Dogs (Sniffy) to Reading. Cameras could be at every bar and restaurant in Reading.

If you cut the other unnecessary expenses out, then you could afford the Goggle Works, which, in all honesty, is not that bad for Reading or the local economy...Sounds like you're missing the big picture Keith. I have doubts about your ability to govern a city and revive it!
Cameras in every bar and restaurant? Drug sniffing dogs?
Have you read Orwell's 1984?
You're painting a picture of Reading that makes it sound as though "a brighter tomorrow = a Police State".
If my civil liberties are infringed upon to that extent, I assure you that I'll leave.
Again, this whole notion of "getting tough on crime" is a lot of rhetoric. Crime is real, and of valid concern.
Cracking down, harder and harder isn't working (except that it gets Reading more Federal funding and bad press). Measured as a % of GDP, crime is the second biggest business in Berks.
Instead, your plan should center on attracting businesses to Reading.
Biz = jobs = lower crime = better standard of living for all = the road to improvement.
The Goggle works is a step in the right direction.
It's also a complete fallacy to think that funding that fueled the Goggle Works would have been generally available for other purposes (dogs, et. al.).
