Mayor Tom McMahon

Mr. Mayor are you embarrassed to add The Goggle Works to one of your accomplishments?
A recent brochure didn't have The Goggle Works listed.

This seems a little strange to me. Mayor Tom this was your biggest accomplishment for three years. Why not list it? Does Mr. Boscov know that you didn't list The Goggle Works ?

The Goggle Works is kinda cool. Do I think it will rejuvenate Reading? Hardly. Have I spent several grand supporting local artists who practice their craft, there? You bet.

What is your issue with Mayor Tom de-emphasizing his role with the GoggleWorks? Why is there a conspiracy mentality around the building?

It may not be a solution to any of Reading's problems, but, it's hardly the cause of any, either.

Wasted tax-payer money? Save the speech for the cameras. Reading wastes so much money, it's obscene. The Goggle Works didn't create the practice of wasting money, nor will it end if the building closes.

The number one challenge Reading has is to attract new employers to fill the void left by a changing economy - Dana, AT&T, Rockwell International, Vanity Fair, et. al.

More commercial enterprise = more jobs, less crime, higher tax revenues, et. al.

Figure out how to solve that issue, and you'll be Mayor for life.

The way to solve the crime issues, the high tax issues is to STOP SPENDING MONEY WASTEFULLY, I.E., ON USELESS WELFARE PROGRAMS. This is also the problem with the state government - Pennsylvania is a notorious welfare state. Cut the welfare (let's be realistic - it's mainly people who are in the ethnic minority and those are the folks who have the high crime incidence - if you think I'm wrong then just read the daily crime log in the Reading Eagle), and once and for all CLEAN UP the city of Reading. That will be the ONLY way to make the streets safer and to attract WELL PAYING businesses BACK to Reading.
